Please join us on Tuesday, January 14 with our speaker Liz Gilbert, President, 2020 DNC Host Committee. She will be discussing the logistics of the winning bid for and hosting the DNC in Milwaukee this July.

In 2019, Milwaukee made history. For the first time ever, the Democratic National Committee selected a city in Wisconsin to host its national convention, and eyes from across the globe turned to the heartland in anticipation for the big event.

Since then, the Milwaukee 2020 Host Committee – the nonprofit civic organization responsible for organizing, hosting, and funding the 2020 Democratic National Convention – has been working hard to ensure the convention and the entire year leading up to it are a success for the Milwaukee community and state as a whole.

During this program, Liz Gilbert, President of the Host Committee, will give an overview of why Milwaukee was the perfect selection for the convention and how the Host Committee is working to capitalize on the incredible opportunity it presents. She will also discuss what to expect during the convention and how interested individuals and organizations can get involved.

About our Speaker:

Liz Gilbert is president of the Milwaukee 2020 Host Committee for the Democratic National Convention. Liz most recently served as executive director of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, where she worked with elected officials, political stakeholders, and progressive leaders at both the state and national levels to promote Democratic values and the party’s nominees. Liz was asked to serve as executive director of the party after running a historic, multi-day, statewide inauguration for Governor Phil Murphy. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Education.

Prior to leading Governor Murphy’s inaugural committee, Liz served as national finance director and surrogates director on the Murphy for Governor campaign. Before joining the campaign, she led the team that raised $80 million for the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

Liz has also served as national finance director on multimillion-dollar fundraising programs for Wendy Davis in Texas and Patrick Murphy in Florida. She worked at the Democratic National Committee in Washington, D.C., during President Obama’s second term, after working on his 2012 re-election campaign as a GOTV director in North Carolina and on his second inaugural committee in the finance department.
