Kirsten Houghton is a trusted business partner in her work with nonprofit organizations, affordable housing, and board governance. A CPA with twenty‐five years of experience, Kirsten serves her clients by identifying industry trends, threats and opportunities, provides guidance over audit and tax compliance, and trains boards in best practices over governance, board recruiting and administration.

As a board member for her professional services firm’s Board of Directors, Kirsten also serves on the Compensation Committee and serves as her company’s Chair of its Governance Committee. She has served in leadership positions for nine not‐for‐profit boards and is a frequent speaker on matters affecting the nonprofit sector, including audit issues, tax law and board governance.

In 2004 Kirsten joined SVA Certified Public Accountants, S.C. She was named the head of SVA’s Nonprofit Services Group in 2010, managing the audit and tax practice and has served in this capacity to the present day. Kirsten is an equity shareholder with her company. Kirsten is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Wisconsin Institute of CPAs (WICPA).

Kirsten is currently serving as Council Member and Communications Committee Member of the United Way of Dane County’s Women United, a committee member for the Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Madison Chapter, Inc., Downtown Madison, Inc., and TEMPO Madison. Kirsten has served as the Chair of United Way of Dane County’s Women United and the Board President of Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Madison Chapter, Inc. Previously, Kirsten served as a steering committee member of WED Wisconsin, Treasurer and Board member of the following organizations: Susan G. Komen South Central Wisconsin, Inc., The Business Forum, Family Service Madison, Inc., and the Junior League of Madison. She also served as a Board Member of the Madison Ballet, Inc.

Kirsten earned an M.B.A. from Rockford University, Rockford, IL, and a B.A. from Illinois State University, Normal, IL. Kirsten is originally from Rockford, IL but currently resides just outside of Madison, Wisconsin.
